High Speed Maneuverable Surface Target (HSMST)

The High Speed Maneuverable Surface Target (HSMST) is a remotely operated target drone based on Metal Shark's 26 foot Relentless boat.

In 2013, the U.S. Navy awarded Metal Shark a contract to produce 350 HSMST's over a three year period.

10 December 2014 - The Afloat Forward Staging Base (Interim) USS Ponce (ASB(I) 15) conducts an operational demonstration of the Office of Naval Research (ONR)-sponsored Laser Weapon System (LaWS) while deployed to the Arabian Gulf.  In the video, a ScanEagle UAS is destroyed and an HSMST is disabled.
